A blind girl regains her sight

A blind girl regains her sight

Tuberculous meningitis is an infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord (meninges). It is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes tuberculosis and spreads to the brain from elsewhere in the body.

In Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), in 1952, this prodigy happened: a girl had become blind, a victim of tubercular meningitis, without the doctors giving the slightest hope of recovering the extinguished light in the pupils of the innocent and angelic little girl. .

“Only a miracle,” a fervent doctor had said to the good mother, “could restore her sight.”

The heart of the pious mother had been disposing the heart of her beloved and angelic daughter with a faith, humility and perseverance, to which the most merciful and sweet heart of the Mother of God can never resist.

And with that faith that breaks stones and moves mountains, she whispers in the heart of her innocent daughter:

-“But if the miracle does not work for you, it is because we do not deserve it or that blindness is better for your salvation.”

Under these conditions, and with the very certain conviction of being heard and cared for, the hour of kissing the Virgin’s hands arrived. When the mother approached, half fearful and confident, and suggested to her daughter that she wait against all hope to be heard and cared for by the goodness of our sweet Mother, the tender girl, giving a sigh of love and placing her soul on her lips to kiss the Holy Scapular, he felt a chill and a sudden shudder in his whole being, and suddenly:

-“Mother, I see the Virgin! How beautiful she is!”

All those present felt the chill of the supernatural and the sublime, and with their throats tied they paid the greatest tribute of love to our Crowned Mother, thanking her for it.
