A reflection for each day of the month of Mary
TWO PREVIOUS IDEAS
It is about praying every day. Every day you can start the prayer time with the “opening prayer for each day”; after carefully reading the “text of each day”, then you speak with God and with Mary; Finally, you end up praying the “closing prayer.”
1. NO RUNNING: It is short; Don’t be in a hurry to finish. It’s not reading and that’s it. Give her time to talk to you.
2 WHAT IS NOT WRITTEN Do you know what is the best thing about this text? What is not written and you tell him; the conversation that you, personally, have with Maria.
INITIAL PRAYER FOR EACH DAY
Holy Mary, Mother of God and my Mother! You are more of a mother than all mothers together: take care of me as you know. Record me, please, these three things you said:
“THEY HAVE NO WINE”: always present to your Son my needs and those of all your children.
“DO WHAT THEY TELL YOU”: give me light to know what Jesus tells me, and great love to do it faithfully.
“HERE IS THE SLAVE OF THE LORD”: that I have no other answer to everything he suggests to me.
FINAL PRAYER FOR EACH DAY
OH LADY MA, Oh my Mother! I offer myself entirely to you; and in proof of my son’s love I consecrate to you on this day my eyes, my ears, my tongue, my heart; in a word, my whole being. Since I am all yours, good Mother, keep me and define me as your thing and possession. amn
Day 1: My Partner
“Our Lady -said Teresa of Calcutta- accompanies me on all my trips; I call her my Companion since one day, in Berhampur, I asked the chaplain of the Sisters to give me an image of the Miraculous Mary with open hands, pouring out graces.” about the world. I gladly agreed, packed up the picture and took it to the station. It was a very large picture, almost life-size, so the stationmaster wanted me to check it in and pay the fee. But I had a pass on it. the railways for my companion, so I told her: “this is my companion…” and she let me travel with the image without paying anything for it. Since then, the Virgin always accompanies me on my journeys. I never travel alone”
It is now when you can talk to Santa Mara. If you want you can start by telling him what is written below; then discuss something else with Ella.
María, always, but in a very special way in this month of May, I need you to accompany me, to be with me all day. I would like to realize more that I really have you by my side at all times; take advantage -if you help me- of every image of yours that I see to tell you something, remember it and count on you. Thank you, “Comrade”.
Day 2: A big scare
A boy, while taking a dip on the beach in Pientzia, is swept away by an eddy current; as soon as he sees himself in danger, he shouts: mam, mam! He waves his arms as he can, desperately asking for help. With difficulty, from time to time, he manages to get his head out and can see his mother on the shore, peacefully tanning her skin in a hammock. His only hope is that his mother will hear him and do whatever it takes to rescue him. He shouts more and more; finally, his mother hears the cries that call her. He sits up and sees the circumstances of his son, and lies down again while he thinks: with how cold the water is, I’m not going crazy! Again -if she gets out of this- she shouldn’t go too deep!
Incredible!, think who reads this event; It can not be true! That’s not a mother, it’s a monster! It is so incredible, indeed, that it is not true. But if it is not possible for a mother to behave like this, it is even less possible for you to cry out to Mary internally: My mother, help me!, and for her to ignore you.
My mother, forgive all the times I have treated you with mistrust, or as if you did not listen to me; or, what is the same, as if you were past me, as if you were not really my mother. I know that it is enough for me to tell you once My mother! so you don’t stop until you get me what I need. And if you don’t get it for me, it’s clearly, at the moment, not convenient for me.
Now is the important moment in which you speak to Santa María with your words, telling her something of what you have read. When you have done that, finish with the closing sentence.
Day 3: How do you like it!
In the year 1917, the Virgin of Fatima appeared to three little shepherds, who were in a cave, while their flock was grazing. Luca, one of the shepherdesses, tells:
“The apparition did not take place on August 13 in Cova de Ira because the Administrator of the City Council arrested and took the little shepherds to Vila Nova de Ourem with the intention of forcing them to reveal the secret that the Virgin had told them that they could only reveal. to the Pope. He had them imprisoned in the Administration and in the municipal jail.
He offered them the most valuable gifts if they discovered the secret. The little seers replied:
– We don’t say it even if they give us the whole world.
I locked them in the dungeon. The other prisoners who were in the dungeon advised them:
– But tell the administrator that secret, what does it matter to you that the Lady doesn’t want it?
– Not that – answered Jacinta -, I prefer to die before not doing what the Virgin has told us!
And the three children prayed the rosary with the other prisoners, in front of Jacinta’s medal hanging on the wall.
The administrator, to frighten them, ordered to prepare a cauldron of boiling oil, in which he threatened to roast the little shepherds if they did not do what he ordered. They, although they thought that the thing was serious, remained firm without revealing anything.
Not even in these circumstances do they stop praying the rosary because the Virgin has asked them to, and they know that she likes it. I hope you don’t stop giving your Mother that pleasure either: tell her that every day this month you will try to give her the gift of praying at least one mystery of the Rosary (one Our Father, ten Hail Marys and one Glory Be). It’s very easy… and how do you like it!
Now, if you feel like it, you can discuss this purpose with Maria. Then finish with the closing prayer.
Day 4: Not complete
St. Peter’s Square in Rome has not had an image of the Virgin for centuries. A friend of mine, a university student, in May 1980, seeing so many statues and images in the square, commented: “The Virgin is missing! If I have a chance, I’ll tell the Pope.” A few days later, in an audience of John Paul II with university students, the Pope was greeting those closest to him down the central aisle of the classroom. When he passed near this friend, he told him: “Holy Father: in St. Peter’s Square there is no Virgin, there is no Madonna…”. John Paul II thought about it for a moment and replied in Spanish: “The Plaza is not complete… It will have to be finished, it will have to be finished…”.
The following year, in 1981, the Pope inaugurated a large mosaic dedicated to Mary, Mother of the Church, which is located on a facade, on the square. “I am happy to inaugurate this testimony of our love (…), that all those who come to this Saint Peter’s Square raise their eyes to our Lady, to direct her (…) a personal greeting”.
If you don’t have an image of the Virgin in your room, your room is incomplete. If you don’t have an image of the Virgin in your living room, it’s incomplete. Put it! And I hope you get used to looking at her, to greet her, when you enter and leave her. It will help you remember that She is with you.
My mother, I love you. I want to love you more; I want to remember you more times. How good are your images!
Now go on talking to him for a while.
Da 5: I have fulfilled it!
“I have seen miracles -wrote a priest, Urteaga-. Fate de m. Pay attention to me. Pray to the Virgin”. And he tells one of the miracles that he has seen.
“I was in Madrid. I had just been ordained a priest. I was 26 years old. It was evening when I finished work.
“They call you on the phone,” they told me.
A somewhat nervous male voice explained the reason for the call:
– Look, I have a friend who is very ill, he could die at any moment. He asks me to call you because he wants to confess. (…) No, he doesn’t know you, but he wants you to be. (I have never understood why.) He Can he come to this house?
– I’m leaving for there right now.
– (He interrupted me) Look, the matter is not so easy. explain me. The flat is full of family and friends who won’t let a Catholic priest into this house; but I am in charge of facilitating the entry of him.
– Well here I go, friend. I’ll be there in a quarter of an hour: as long as the bus takes.
The flat was very big, I am seeing it now that I am describing the situation. The door ajar, a long corridor. I enter determined after entrusting myself to the Virgin to facilitate the meeting. Rumors of voices in adjoining rooms; some people who look at me with a gesture of astonishment. With a brief greeting, I go to the room that I think may be the patient’s room. Indeed it is.
– Did they let you in?
– I have seen frightened faces and ugly gestures; but the Virgin our Lady has been able more.
– Thank you. I don’t have much time (the patient panted). I want to confess.
– (I took my crucifix, kissed it.). Begin, God hears you…
I very excited. The man (he was an important character), too. I put my ears to his lips because he was barely audible. The confession… long, very long.
– …And I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
At the end – he had only a few minutes left to live – he wanted to explain “his” miracle to me. She did it wearily. I thank you with all my heart.
I have been absent from the Church for forty years. And you may wonder why I have called a priest.
He said it all. I was silent.
– My mother, when she died, reunited us brothers… Look. She didn’t leave you anything. I have nothing. But fulfill this testament that I give you: Pray three Hail Marys every night. And I (how the poor thing cried!), I have fulfilled it, you know? I have fulfilled it.
He died while singing. It all seemed like a chant to me: “I’ve done it, I’ve done it.”
No matter how tired you are, Santa Maria, no matter how stupid you have done, no matter how far I am from God, I will never stop praying the three Hail Marys to you, at night, on my knees. Because if one day or a season I’m being a bad son of yours, it doesn’t fit in any head that because of that you’re going to be a bad mother. And besides, when I’m worse, I need to have you close more. My guardian angel, take it upon yourself to remind me, thank you.
Day 6: Nothing can destroy it
An extraordinary event occurred in Mexico on the morning of December 14, 1921, when the Basilica of Guadalupe was empty of parishioners.
Luciano Pérez, a gigantic construction worker, entered the church carrying a very large bouquet of flowers, in proportion to his enormous size. Had there been an observer in the basilica at that time, he might have been surprised that Luciano Prez carried the bouquet with both hands and contracted muscles, given the extraordinary physical strength attributed to him; he had so much strength, he told himself, that he could easily throw a brick up to the third floor of a house under construction. Indeed, he weighed so much on her because the interior of the bouquet contained a very heavy load of dynamite.
Luciano Prez, climbed the steps of the altar and deposited the floral offering at the feet of the Virgin of Guadalupe. He left and shortly after the very powerful dynamite charge exploded. The marble of the steps of the altar was shattered, the chandeliers and metal objects were bent and twisted as if they were made of rubber, all the glass was broken including those of the neighboring buildings, but the glass of the Virgin of Guadalupe did not even break. agriet: “This fact – the experts conclude – cannot be explained scientifically”.
Why does God want these miraculous events? To tell us very clearly that the Virgin exists and that the love of Christians towards Her nothing can…
