Learn how and when to pray the Act of Contrition:
How to pray the Act of Contrition?
My Lord, Jesus Christ!
True God and Man,
My Creator, Father and Redeemer; for being you who you are, infinite goodness.
And because I love you above all things,
I am heartily sorry for having offended you;
it also weighs me down because you can punish me with the pains of hell.
Helped by your divine grace
I firmly propose never to sin again, confess and fulfill the penance that was imposed on me.
Amen.

When to pray the Act of Contrition?
The Act of Contrition is the prayer that helps us recognize our sins as we examine our conscience. It is easier to ask God for forgiveness, since we show repentance for the offenses we have committed against his commandments.
We accept that we are sinners and that we are sincerely sorry. The act of contrition is prayed when the sacrament of confession is given. That is, we ask forgiveness for our sins when we confess before a priest and if we cannot take communion, we can put our faults in Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
