Padre Pio led a life of many holiness and was in continuing relationship with heaventhrough the prayerthe sacraments and the mystical unions with Christ. Therefore, his advice was inspired by Jesus and is of great value to those who want to walk towards Christ.
Padre Pio is known to have had many spiritual sons and daughters. He took them under his cover and led them down the path of holiness. In fact, the Capuchin father interacted a lot with his spiritual children through letters and it is precisely those precious letters that make the words of Padre Pio resound throughout the world today.

Below, we offer you some of Padre Pio’s advice and recommendations on various topics.
A call to holiness
Padre Pio echoes the words of Christ: “Therefore, be perfect as the Father who is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).
“We must try not to commit any fault, small or large, because everything is serious for the Divine Heart that loves us infinitely. Let us remember this at every moment and let us not try to put our faults on the scales of the pharmacist.”
“Be, then, always faithful to God in the fulfillment of the promises that you have made to him and do not worry about the mockery of the ignorant. You must know that the saints are always reviled by the world and by the worldly and have put down their feet to the world with its maxims.”
The importance of prayer
Padre Pio was a praying man. She prayed incessantly, recited the rosary constantly, and lived in ceaseless union with Jesus and the Virgin Mary. This life of prayer gave life to his soul, it was the source from which the stigmatized father drew the strength to continue his mission. In fact, he invites us to follow him and especially to follow Jesus on this path.
“Whoever doesn’t meditate is like someone who never looks in the mirror. He doesn’t mind coming out disheveled, because, even without knowing it, he may have gotten dirty.” ...
“He who meditates, directs his thoughts to God, the mirror of his soul. He tries to know his defects. He does everything possible to correct them. He curbs his impulses. He orders his conscience.” …
“The sacred gift of prayer is placed in the right hand of the Savior, and to the extent that you are empty of yourself, that is, of the love of the body and of your own will, and that you will be rooting yourself well in holy humility, the Lord will communicate it to your heart.” (Epist.III, p.979f.)
Carry your cross with Jesus
Padre Pio teaches us to go through the tests in the manner of Christ and the Virgin Mary, entrusting ourselves totally to the Father, with resignation and patience.
“The Lord sometimes makes you feel the weight of the cross. This weight seems intolerable to you, but you carry it because the Lord in his love and mercy extends your hand and gives you strength.
“When you feel the weight of the Cross heavier on your shoulders, ask God to comfort you. In doing so, you will not go against the will of God, but will imitate Christ, who, in the Garden of Olives, asked relief to his father.”
“If he is not pleased to listen to you, resign yourself and pronounce, like Jesus, your “Fiat”: May your will be done!”
“You should preferably humiliate yourself before God, rather than be discouraged if he reserves the sufferings of his Son for you and if he wants to make you feel weak. the benefits with which it enriches you day by day.”
the saint of San Giovanni Rotondo he gave great consolation to those who addressed him with his words.
“The more severe the test that God sends to his chosen ones, the more abundantly he comforts them during oppression and exalts them after the struggle.”
“The angels only envy us for one thing: they cannot suffer for God. Only suffering allows us to say with certainty: My God, look how I love you.”
Demon attacks
Padre Pio had a great experience in the fight against satan and demons, since he was attacked from childhood and had to face evil when he was still little. In doing so, he always entrusted himself totally to Jesus, to his Holy Mother and asked for the help of his guardian angel. Therefore, the Capuchin Father has much to teach us about how to fight and overcome these battles throughout life.
“The devil is like a rabid dog tied to a chain; he cannot hurt anyone beyond what the chain allows. So stay away. If you get too close, he will catch you. The devil has only one door to enter our spirit: the will; there are no secret doors. Nothing is sin if it has not been committed by the will. When the will does not come into play, it is not sin, but human weakness.”
“Fear not, Jesus is more powerful than hell. At the mere memory of his name, everyone, in heaven and on earth, falls on their knees before Jesus, consolation of the good and terror of the wicked.”
“The temptations, the noise, the worries, are the weapons of our enemy. Do not forget it: if it makes so much noise, it is a sign that it is outside and not inside. What should scare us would be that peace and harmony reign between our soul and the devil.”
infinite trust in Jesus
The holiness rhymes with the confidence and Padre Pio, like many saints before him, reminds us of the power of perfect trust in God, in his goodness, in his mercy. Trust is the key that unlocks the heart of God.
“The more we make ourselves little by virtue of trust, the more the heart and arms of God open.”
“Often put your trust in Divine Providence, and be sure that heaven or earth will pass before your Lord ceases to protect you.”
