All the professions in the world summed up in one: Mom!
Always the same words, always the same cliché letters, we always say the same thing about you, mom.
But I’m sure there is something we haven’t said, because there is greatness in you, a greatness that is not exhausted in one or a thousand mother’s days.
Today you are the same as yesterday, you are the same as two or 10 centuries ago; because when you look inside yourself and realize that you lead a new life, that is when you, dear woman, become the new ark of the covenant.
You become a student, because with our questions, it is us, your children, who teach you the simplest and the deepest, what you had forgotten because of its smallness, but which constitutes the greatness of life.
You also become, dear mother, a prophet and a seer. What you wouldn’t give to avoid disasters! And so, you make an effort to guess the future: You’re going to fall and hit that table, for a second later to hug us and say sweetly, without reproach: I told you!, I already knew it!, while wiping our tears.
You magically transform into a doctor, nurse, and patient all at once. You heal broken hearts, you clean wounded knees and you have a patience, pretty mommy, that not even Santa Teresa would have dreamed of for a second before saying that patience reaches everything.
Just by wanting it, you can be a clown, a singer, and a writer. If the child cries, you have to make him laugh at all costs! You stand on your hands, you make faces, you cross-eyed, you make trumpets, and when the little one smiles, you feel like the happiest woman, because she smiled at you, because that smile is worth more than a diamond.
Even if you have the worst voice in the world, dear mommy, you sing all sorts of melodies to calm me down and have fun. You have practiced so much that you would surely win on American Idol or maybe not, but you win the battle of crying and impatience, from time to time.
You are also literate. Mommy, tell me a story, and for God only knows how many more times!, you feed the soul and imagination of your little one with those stories that only you know how to tell, because no one knows them but you, but they are so rich in teachings. and in virtues.
You become a lawyer, a diplomat and a trade unionist. You intercede for the naughty little one so that Dad doesn’t get too upset over the latest prank; you are the one who negotiates between the little brothers in dispute, with Solomonic wisdom and justice, and you also know how to go on strike when the kids don’t pick up their toys: you frown and don’t move until everything is put away and in its place.
You have a rare gift to become an engineer and architect. How many times do you end up assembling the toys that grandparents gave to your children! How many times does the little one come crying to accuse his brother: mom, mom, my brother destroyed my bridge, and you run to remodel the destroyed road!
You are one of the best chef. Those zucaritas with milk that you have prepared every morning are a gastronomic delight; And not to mention the lunch for school: it is so delicious that all the children want to try it! You give me?.
You are an excellent astronaut. When you go to see your little one sleep, you feel like on the moon, so much tenderness causes you but above all, how much satisfaction!: my beautiful son, mine!… and finally a moment of silence!.
Mommy, you are the best publicist and marketer I have ever met in my life. You are an expert in getting us to decide on the cheapest toy, even though we, your children, want a more sophisticated one. You sell us the idea in a masterful way, and we always end up asking for what you suggest.
Look son, that toy is going to break very quickly. It’s cheap and it’s very ugly, what horror! On the other hand, look at this monkey, it even has little music! No, no, no and look, it moves! This is definitely the one for you.
You are the best driver that a demanding client can ask for. You take your children to school, and even if they leave home late, or there is a lot of traffic, they are never, ever late for class.
You even become mystical, adored mommy. When you can no longer do anything, you always have the last resort: pray. Your rosary is worn out from so many times you have used it to pray for me, for your daughter, and from how many times you have freed me with your prayer!
That’s why today I don’t want to thank you, I want to bless you, single mom, because you were incredibly brave in deciding to have me even though dad didn’t want to marry you and suggested you abort; because you brought me up when dad died, and you gave me all the love of mother and father.
I bless you, mother, because although daddy was mean and hit you, you always protected me, and you never took it out on me; because even though you were still a girl, you decided to become a woman to give me the opportunity to one day have the privilege of being a mother, like you.
I want to bless you too, dear single mom, because even though you were raped and your relatives told you that you had the right not to have me, you loved me so much that you decided to give me life and be my partner, my friend, my confidant, my example, my mom.
I bless you, good mommy, because you have dedicated your whole life to taking care of me, your little son who is sick. And although I cannot tell you, I am sure that you know that you have filled my heart with happiness and love. What would I do without you, mom!
And you, dear grandmother, you who when my mommy died, or when she abandoned me or neglected me, took care of me and raised me like another son even though you were tired and thought you no longer had the strength to deal with a rebellious teenager! you are doubly a mother, and I bless you too!
Or simply when you gave me your love and your advice, in addition to what my mother already gave me, granny, when you told me all the stories you had told your children and made me understand why my mom is the way she is, so similar! to you!
I bless you, mother of my soul, because although I am not flesh of your flesh and blood of your blood, you gave me the opportunity to call you mom, you gave me a family, you gave me love, you gave me the life of my soul, you, mom adoptive… It doesn’t matter what they call you like that; For me, you are the best mom in the world.
I also bless you, mom, because even though you decided not to stay with me and give me up for adoption, you gave me life, an opportunity to be someone, an opportunity to one day tell you: mom
The word woman was never as beautiful as when she became a mother.
