Am I a failure if I don’t achieve my 2022 goals?

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Many have the habit of making a list of goals when a New Year arrives. Losing weight, getting a new job, being kinder, going out more or participating more in church are some of the goals that people can set themselves.

In general, some of these goals correspond to things that we have wanted to achieve for a long time, however, due to discouragement or giving in to our comfort zone, we are unable to achieve them.

When we push ourselves towards our goals and get out of our comfort zone, our own mind reacts biologically to make us give up and go back to where we were comfortable.

However, there is an analogy about physical training that can give us the clue of what we should do when our mind tells us: Stop! You can not!

Those who do high-impact exercise reach a point where the muscle cannot lift the weight with which it was training, this is called muscle failure. Some push themselves at this point to generate much more fiber and this often gives better results (when done with preparation).

When you are fighting for your goals and your body tells you to stop, as long as there is no imminent danger, keep going! because that is where the actions that bring you closer to meeting the goal are.

On the other hand, when a year passes and we see that we have not fulfilled what we set out to do at the beginning of the year, a feeling of failure may appear. So, are we failures for not meeting a goal?

To answer the question, we must understand that falling in the middle of the race does not mean losing the game. So we are failures for not fulfilling our own projection? No. We will fail when we permanently give up on achieving what we propose.

Each person has a different time and circumstances to achieve what is proposed, the important thing is to persist as with the example of muscle failure, even if it hurts, keep trying.

The magic of fighting for our goals is seeing how it becomes easier once we take the first step.

Also, we all have a motivator in our own body…the Holy Spirit. Many times that voice that tells us: “do it!”, is God telling us that moving forward is the right path.

If you do not achieve your 2022 goals, we must tell you that the more effort you make, the more your muscles will strengthen to carry more weight, or in other words, you will have more knowledge about how to achieve what you want.

You may not achieve your goal in 2022, but if you keep persisting you can get even closer to achieving what you set out to do.
