BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA.- The Buenos Aires Obelisk, a historic scene of large concentrations, will be the meeting point for Argentine evangelical churches, willing to demonstrate their ability to mobilize in the debate on whether or not to decriminalize abortion.
The activity will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, when thousands of believers who have already promised to arrive in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires are expected to attend from different parts of the country.
The reform, which was already approved by the Chamber of Deputies on 06/13, would totally decriminalize abortion until the 14th week of pregnancy. It will be discussed in the Chamber of Senators on 08/08.
«The call has a federal character with the same message «Let’s save the two lives». The protection of God, Source of all Reason and Justice, will be invoked in favor of the unborn child and the mothers who carry them in their wombs. The central point will be to ask the senators of the Nation to issue a ruling on August 8 against the bill to decriminalize abortion. It is also important to highlight the joint work with the Catholic Church and pro-life groups in various actions and mobilizations since the bill began to be debated in the Chamber of Deputies. Proof of this were the testimonies of the Argentine Episcopal Conference when sharing the concepts on statements made by ACIERA” in the document “Right to Life”, said Pastor Rubén Proietti, head of the Christian Alliance of Evangelical Churches of the Argentine Republic.
The great mobilization arose after a historic meeting that took place on July 5 at the facilities of the Vision of the Future Church, where unanimously national evangelical leaders in favor of both lives prepared a statement against the bill that is debated in the Senate, noting that most of the practice of abortion is the product of unwanted pregnancies “consequence of irresponsible sexual conduct.”
The organizers affirmed in their statement that “the practice of clandestine abortions, regardless of how many there are, is in itself a humanitarian problem and of today’s society, whose consequences are deep and difficult to bear.”
Also on Wednesday 08/08 the evangelical churches for the two lives and jointly with pro-life groups and Catholic parishes, will gather in the National Congress from 1:00 p.m. in a festival for life, the day of the vote in the Senate of the Nation”.
