Athlete and his wife donate $5 million to fight COVID-19

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany donate five million dollars to the state of Louisiana to fight COVID-19. This was stated by the Faithwire portal.

The athlete is committed to helping, so he will take advantage of his relationship with companies to donate $10,000 a day in food in Louisiana, apart from the $5 million he donated to the state.

Children who cannot enjoy the food programs of schools, the elderly and vulnerable families would be the most favored to specify this help with companies.

The athlete wrote a message on Instagram showing his commitment to the pandemic: “Let’s do our part, keep hope and get through this together.”

Louisiana and the pandemic

The state of Louisiana has been affected with 2,300 cases and to date there have been 83 deaths. On the other hand, the city of New Orleans is almost half of the confirmed cases with 1000.

Governor John Bel Edwards stated that he does not know how long COVID-19 will affect, but he is sure that proportionally Louciona has the highest number of cases, only surpassed by New York and Washington.

For his part, doctor Joshua Denson, who is a physician at a Louisiana Hospital, argued that perhaps the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Louisiana was due to the celebration of Mardi Gras.
