“My sweet momma went to be with Jesus this morning around 5:30am,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him and his mom, Adele Millard.
The singer said he and his brother, Stephen, were with their mother when she died, reported ChristianToday.
Millard wrote in the post, “She is now a bigger part of my future than my past.”
Reconciliation
Adele Millard’s death comes four years after Bart Millard made amends with her.
For a long time, the musician held a grudge against his mother for leaving home, leaving him with his father, who was a violent person.
The singer brought his life to the cinema screens in the movie “I Can Only Imagine.”
The film grossed $17.1 million domestically during its opening weekend and over $83 million overall, exceeding all expectations.
In the film, Adele Millard is shown leaving her young son behind with his father in fear of forfeiting her own life.
