CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- A new lunar eclipse or “blood moon” will occur on May 26, 2021, and will be at least partially visible from East Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean and much of the Americas.
A lunar eclipse is caused by the moon passing through the Earth’s shadow in space. This particular one is called the Super Blood Moon, and It will be the first total eclipse since January 2019.. The eclipse will occur as the Moon approaches Earth during its orbit.
According to Forbes.com, this “supermoon” will move into Earth’s dark central umbral shadow, where it will appear as a “Blood Moon” for 15 minutes, briefly turning the lunar surface a reddish-copper color.
Space.com explains that a blood Moon occurs when the Moon moves fully into the deepest part of Earth’s shadow, but the Earth turns red instead of black. The red color comes from some of the sunlight passing through Earth’s atmosphere, where it is bent and colors like blue or green are filtered out, leaving longer wavelengths like red.
Biblical Implications of Blood Moons
Although there are scientific explanations for these types of Blood Moons, many Christians also see prophetic implications behind them. That is because they are mentioned directly in the Scriptures.
The Bible predicts a Blood Moon in the book of Joel 2:31 which says: » The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.» .
Also in Acts 2:20, “The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and remarkable day of the Lord comes.» .
And, in the book of Revelation 6:12, he also prophesies a blood moon: » And I looked when he opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun turned black as hair sackcloth, and the moon turned like blood» .
All scriptures refer to the Moon turning blood red as a heavenly sign, that the end times are fast approaching.
Numerous “Blood Moon” events have occurred throughout history since those passages were written, but Jesus told his followers to watch for the signs of the times, including the signs in the heavens.
Some preachers claim that the large number of blood moon eclipses in recent years are just one of many signs that the end of the world is drawing near and could happen in the near future.
Scholars of Bible prophecy point to other historical events such as the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948, the return of millions of Jews to the Holy Land, and possible precursors to the biblical mark of the beast as additional signs of the end times. .
Solar eclipse ‘ring of fire’ will arrive in June
Also this year, just two weeks after the Super Blood Moon, the world will experience a ‘ring of fire’ solar eclipse on June 10, 2021.
Forbes indicates that most of the northeastern US and Canada will see a massive partial solar eclipse before June 10, and some areas will even see a stunning 3-minute “ring of fire” annular solar eclipse. and 33 seconds. That ring of fire will only be visible in areas like northern Ontario, Canada, and Russia.
The Bible also has more to say about celestial events in general, beyond blood moons and solar eclipses.
Jesus says in Luke 21:25-28:
Then there will be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on earth anguish of peoples due to the confusion of the sound of the sea and the waves: men drying up because of the fear and expectation of the things that will happen to the roundness of the earth: because the virtues of the heavens will be moved.
And then they will see the Son of man, who will come in a cloud with power and great majesty. And when these things begin to be done, look, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.
