Can tattooed and pierced people be pastors?

.- Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like? When you come across carved or painted images of Jesus you ask yourself: Was he like that? Long hair, beard, light eyes… Why don’t the scriptures say anything about Jesus’ appearance? Four gospels, four writers, and none of them use phrases to say what our Savior was like. Because?

I don’t know what Jesus was like on the outside, but I know that his interior was so beautiful, so beautiful, that it wasn’t worth spending a sentence talking about his exterior.

The New Testament writers were so impressed by the content of Jesus that they forgot to mention his appearance. The pages of Jesus’ biography were dedicated solely to talking about what really mattered, his heart.

If someone wrote a biography of you, how many pages would it take to talk about your outside and how many to talk about your inside? How are you known? How do people remember you? The boy with the nice clothes? The girl with the red hair? The boy in the cap? The makeup artist? What is the most striking thing about you? Your appearance or your interior?

I once surprised myself with a question: “Why are there beautiful people and ugly people?” Why some people are more physically favored and others are not. But the Holy Spirit made me understand as he read this verse.

But the Lord said: “And the Lord said to Samuel: Do not look at his appearance, nor at the greatness of his stature, because I reject him; because Jehovah does not look at what man looks at; for a man looks at what is before his eyes, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7.

Is the packaging or the content better?

When creating man, God’s will was that he be admired and recognized for what he was and not for his appearance. Unfortunately, this world has managed to teach us that we should value the packaging more than the content.

We spend hours and fortunes investing in something that will return to the dust of the earth in a few years. However, we spend very little time investing in what will last forever. Remember, God does not see as he sees man, He sees your heart.

“Is getting a tattoo or piercing a sin?”

Sorry to frustrate you, but I don’t know the answer. I can’t tell you if what you want to do with your exterior is right or wrong. But I know what you can do with your interior. I know what you could do to please the heart of God and make him smile. Invest in what is eternal. Be as similar as possible to your firstborn. Be a copy of Jesus.
