– In the schools of some indigenous communities, It is a challenge for many Christians to follow Jesus, where they are insulted and attacked by their peers, and even discriminated against by teachers, as is the case of Valentina from Colombia.
According to Open Doors magazine, religious intolerance, Valentina had to live since she was littlethat like her, also the children of other indigenous Christians, are harassed by their neighbors, and even run the risk of being kidnapped, and even killed, by armed groups.
Faced with these risks, Valentina was sent to the shelter called “Hogar Cristiano”a place that is located, more than 15 hours by car, from the town where his parents live.
“We were sad to send our daughter so far away that we couldn’t see her, but happy at the same time to know that I would no longer be in danger”recognizes Francisco, the father of the adolescent.
“I really missed my family”
The beginning was not easy, but Valentina and her brother Elver are protected and can study in peace. “At first, I was very sad, because I felt that I needed my familyBut now I don’t want to leave here. She had no freedom where she livedand I always wanted to get out of there”, explains the young Christian.
Apart from receiving formal education, the teenager received medical treatment, at the shelter, when she discovered a heart condition. “Well, I always understood that everything in this life has a purpose,” he said.
Valentina turned 15 this 2022, and soon she will finish high school, planning to study Arts, she dreams of traveling, and meeting many people, to share what he has lived, and be able to help others, preaching the gospel.
