Christian athlete breaks world record and gives glory to God

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The hurdler and sprinter athlete, Syney McLaughlin, qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games breaking a world record and gave all the glory to the Lord.

Last Sunday, the 21-year-old competed for a place in the Olympic Games in the 400 meter hurdles discipline in Eugene, Oregon and achieved a mark of 51.90 seconds.

The athlete gave glory to God once she got her pass to the Olympics, reviewed NBC Sports.

“Honestly, this season, just working with my new coach and my new support system, it’s really just faith and trust in the process. I couldn’t ask for anything more and truly everything is a gift from God,” he declared.

Likewise, the athlete stated that the key to her success was maintaining a childlike faith and believing that anything is possible.

McLaughlin defeated the current Olympic and world champion, Dalilah Muhammad, who had the record in this discipline (52.16 seconds), but both qualified for the Olympics.

McLaughlin responded to a question about whether she was frustrated in the past about trailing behind Muhammad; the athlete assured that she was forming what she is today and that her faith and trust in God were a fundamental part of the process.

Last Sunday the athlete shared a photo about her triumph where she placed a message of faith:

“The face of a woman who is in awe of God (prayer hand emoji) 51.90. I could sense this meeting was going to be something special… but man, weeks like these are some of the hardest in a track athlete’s life. The mental strain of preparing for the rounds to solidify his place is heavy enough. But the amount of weight the Lord has taken off my shoulders, is the reason I was able to run so freely yesterday.”

Likewise, she continued her message, assuring that her faith was being tested since in recent weeks she had gone through events that demotivated her, however, she said that she continued to “hear God say: ‘Just focus on me.’ It was the best career plan I could have put together.”
