.- The Christian athlete Daniel Dias obtained his medal number 27 in the Paralympic Games, extending the record that establishes him as the greatest winner of this sport in the Games.
On Thursday, August 26, Daniel Dias won bronze in the 4×100 swimming relay. Hours earlier, he had already won another bronze by finishing third in the 100-meter freestyle in the S5 class (for athletes with physical disabilities) at the Tokyo Aquatics Center.
“I am very grateful, first with God. She is flowing. I turned around and saw that the Chinese were a little ahead. But I managed to reach my goal. It’s the last 100 meters, I don’t have any more in the competitions, now only 50 meters”, expressed Dias.
The edition of the Tokyo Paralympic Games is his last competition. He is expected to retire on September 1, after the last swimming event at these Games.
Faith and prayer of Dias
In 2016, during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, the athlete won 9 medals, 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. Daniel Dias, who is an evangelical Christian, has always emphasized the importance of faith and family to overcome obstacles.
During an interview, he said that after every race, he talks to God. “I say my prayer before leaving the room and then I come to have fun. Jesus showed me several things, and I was able to understand that I am the will of God and that He gave his only son to die in my place. When I understood this, I understood the love of the Father”, he exclaimed.
“I am beginning to understand why God made me this way. But the main thing is to serve him. And live my life as a follower of Christ. All these achievements will disappear, but the love of Christ will never disappear, ”he declared at the time Dias, reports Gospel News.
