Christian author warns of the devil’s dangers: ‘Keep alert!’

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- In Ephesians 6, the apostle Paul implores Christians to put on the “full armor of God” to “face the wiles of the devil”.

He illustrates a vivid spiritual battle in which humans must acknowledge the existence of “evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm” (Ephesians 6:12, NIV). But what does that look like, why does it matter, and how do you win such a war?

It’s a dynamic that worries Bible teacher Kyle Winkler, who addresses these same issues in his new book, Shut Up, Devil, Charisma News reports.

Winkler, who discusses the “secret tactics of the enemy” and provides Bible-based advice for defeating evil in the book, shared his experience and the pushback he sometimes receives within the church when discussing these topics.

criticism in the church

“In some ways, I think the world understands it more than some people in the church. I think I’ve gotten more criticism from some people in the church… ‘Why do you always talk so much about the devil?’” he noted.

Winkler says that Christians should not “obsess over the devil.” But he maintains that believers must be aware, on their guard, and defend themselves, especially in light of the warnings of Scripture.

“The Bible talks a lot about him, and definitely one of the key scriptures I reference is 1 Peter 5:8, where it says:

“‘Stay alert! Be careful with your great enemy, the devil. He can convince people that he doesn’t exist at all, and that’s where, unfortunately, a lot of people in the church culture are today,” he explained.

Winkler wants to equip Christians to reject the devil’s lies. The falsehoods that can separate people from the Lord. Rooting yourself in the Scriptures helps Christians better ignore the lies of the enemy.
