CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Three men who insulted a Christian for leading Muslims to Christ in eastern Uganda killed him on Sunday, July 3.
Simolya Latifu from Molu village, Kasasira sub-county, Kibuku district, was killed with a sword at around 7:15 pm in a swamp near Molu. Latifu was 47 years old.
Latifu had left an evening service at the Christ Discipleship Worship Center in Molu around 6:30 p.m. Three witnesses saw a motorcycle and then heard crying and calls for help in a nearby swamp at 7:15 p.m.
“The killers were condemning him for converting Muslims to Christianity. We hid in a thick bush,” said one of the witnesses, reports Morning Star News.
The witnesses were able to recognize the alleged attackers as Ali Buyinza, Muhammad Kamunyani and Jamada Walyomba.
“We saw Buyinza cut off his head with a sword and then they left,” said the witness, who was not identified for security reasons.
“We stayed there for about 30 minutes, and then we got up our courage and slowly went to see the murdered man. And we found out that he worshiped with us at the Discipleship of Christ Worship Center.”
They informed the pastor of the church Emmanuel Muzei and filed a report with the police around midnight. Officers and area residents rushed to the area early Monday morning (July 4) and confirmed that the body was that of Latifu.
