Fábio Cohelo, who is also a book author, said that people are easily identified with the gifts of teacher, evangelist and pastor, but it often generates controversy when people are identified as prophets and apostles.
The missionary assures that if the prophets and the apostles did not exist, the other gifts would not exist, since they are all in the same group.
“God’s gift is salvation. The gifts of the Spirit are abilities to fulfill the priesthood, according to 1 Corinthians 12:7 [sabiduría, conocimiento, fe, sanidad, milagros, profecía, discernimiento de espíritus, variedad de lenguas e interpretación] and the gifts of Christ are five offices [apóstoles, profetas, evangelistas, pastores y maestros]according to Ephesians 4.11”, he explained.
The missionary also explained that the main function of the prophet is not to prophesy, but to train people to be holy.
Douglas Gonçalves asked the missionary how long the ministries of the Church will function. Fabio responded by quoting the verse Ephesians 4:13.
“Until we all reach the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, and reach maturity, reaching the measure of the fullness of Christ,” he read. “Then I ask, have we as a Church already reached the full knowledge of the Son of God? Or have we already arrived at the unity of faith? The answer is obvious, ”he pointed out and summarized: Are there prophets today? Yes!”.
The host of the program stated that some do not believe in some gifts by people who have abused them.
Fabio replied that many people focus on the fact that they were hurt by people who abused the gift and then there are no churches for them.
“During the last twenty years, the Brazilian Church has made a lot of mistakes in trying to restore the five ministries. But we are not going to restore anything, it is God who is going to do it. The gifts are from Christ, He himself establishes and gives each one as a gift to the Church”, said Fabio.
