VENEZUELA. – Christians in Venezuela are fighting in prayer for the future of the country. Evangelicals are meeting and praying for their nation, asking God to bring peace and return to their Venezuela the long-awaited democracy.
Guaidó is backed by Venezuela’s National Assembly which says Nicolás Maduro stole the recent elections. Maduro, widely regarded as a dictator, claims to be Venezuela’s rightfully elected leader and shows no sign of relinquishing power, despite a widening crisis of food shortages and poverty caused by his socialist policies.
Guaidó says he would consider granting dictator Maduro and his allies an amnesty if they help return the country to constitutional order. But for now the country’s military is backing Maduro, and some fear there could be bloody violence in the coming days, which is why influential Christian leaders have spoken out in favor of the country.
Mundo Cristiano, the Latin American division of CBN News, reports that several Christian leaders and singers took to social media to comment on the tension suffered by Venezuela, after Guaidó was proclaimed temporary president.
One of the first to publish an opinion was the Venezuelan singer, Daniel Calvettiwho wrote: “Lord Jesus, we trust in your great love for our beautiful country. We put our eyes and our hearts on the hope that only comes from you.
The Costa Rican singer and pastor, Danilo Monterooffered a prayer for Venezuela: We pray for all Venezuelans that the Lord grant them the gift of peace. In the midst of this difficult situation, may your light guide you to a future of good and peace.”
Guatemalan band honey san marcosalso wrote: «VENEZUELA We are united in prayer and believing for the beginning of a new time for this Nation, the Sun of Justice will illuminate all the darkness. Psalm 126 says When the Lord returns the captivity of Zion, we will be like those who dream. Then our mouth will be filled with laughter, and our tongue with praise; then they will say among the nations: Great things the Lord has done with these”.
Pastor Rubén Giménez, father of the members of the Montreal band, made a prayer in front of the Venezuelan Consulate in Miami. Laura Giménez, better known as Laurita, from the Montreal band, published: «Today and always we are with you Venezuela. Courage and faith that the world accompanies you. #Venezuelalibre”.
The Argentine pastor and teacher, Dante Gebel, said: Come on, VENEZUELA, beloved! We all went out to claim the freedom and peace that this wonderful country deserves. It’s now or never! We pray strongly for all the Venezuelan friends who deserve a legitimate President. #Venezuelalibre.” And on Instagram, the Colombian singer Alex Campos He also asked for prayers for Venezuela.
