Christmas Eve Dinner Blessing

Christmas Eve Dinner Blessing

Lord, on a night like this, a long time ago, you wanted to come as a child, with name and surname, in the midst of the poorest children on earth. When you grew up, you talked about very good things, and you said that no one is poor anymore, because he is a son of God. We have gathered for dinner here today. We have mixed with our joy, disappointments and sorrows throughout the year.

That is why we want you to bless our table so that you fill us with your love and your peace. We ask you today, that we want the world to be like a big family: without wars, without misery, without drugs, without hunger and with more justice.

Newborn Jesus! May we welcome your word of forgiveness and love today in this house. Keep us united. Give us bread and work throughout the year. Give us strength and tenderness to be men of good will. Lord, be welcome to this house, today and always. Amen

A prayer that can also be prayed on Christmas Eve is the following:

Today, Christmas Eve, we have, in a special way and as the center of our family, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
We are going to light a candle in the middle of the table so that this candle makes us think of Jesus and we are going to thank God for having sent us his Son Jesus Christ.
Thank you Father, that you loved us so much that you gave us your Son.
Lord, we thank you.
Thank you Jesus for having made you a child to save us.
Lord, we thank you.
Thank you Jesus, for having brought God’s love to the world.
Lord, we thank you.
Lord Jesus, You came to tell us that God loves us and that we should love others,
Lord, we thank you.
Lord Jesus, You came to tell us that it gives more joy to give than to receive,
Lord, we thank you.
Lord Jesus, You came to tell us that what we do to others we do to You.
Lord, we thank you.
Thank you Mary, for having accepted to be the Mother of Jesus.
Maria, we thank you.
Thank you Saint Joseph, for taking care of Jesus and Mary.
Saint Joseph, we thank you.

Thank you Father for this Night of Peace, Night of Love, that You have given us by giving us your Son, we ask that you bless us, that you bless these foods that given by your kindness we are going to take, and bless the hands that prepared them.

Child God, you who came into the world to save, I ask you for years of peace.
Child God, you who were born in a manger, I ask that there be no more miseries in the world.
Child God, you who were born of a Virgin mother, I ask you for purity in this world.
Child God, you who are Savior, save us from the disasters that nature causes us.
Child God, you who gave us life to live it, may we live it according to your glorious life.

Amen!.
