God of goodness, a few hours before your Son is born again in our hearts, I come to your presence to raise a prayer for children around the world. On these dates, God of love, they have a leading role, of great importance, because God’s love is poured out from childhood in our lives, that’s why I ask you to cover them with your protective mantle, that you free them from the dangers that there is in the world and everything that can cause you sadness and pain.
I ask for those who manifest their love with every joy and with every mischief. For those children who show their eyes full of illusion and hope, for those little ones who are an example for us in their way of life. Grant them health, Lord, to grow free from all evil and surround them with your light to illuminate the steps they take.
Holy God, I ask you for all those children who are about to be born, like your Son Jesus, for those who are the seed of tomorrow, for those who are the hope of a better world for all of us, for them, the children, who they are an enormous blessing by and for You, dearest Father.
Allow us, the adults, to guide them on the paths you showed us, along the paths of righteousness and love, so that we can be a mark of perseverance, sacrifice and sincerity in their lives. May your laughter be the melody that accompanies these Christmas Holidays, Oh good God.
I also want to ask you, this Christmas, for the children who are in need, for those who are growing up in the midst of pain and anguish, for the children who are hungry and whose smile has abandoned them. I ask you to have compassion on all the children of the world, Lord, May you heal their soul and ease the pain they may be feeling.
I ask you for all those who are victims of family problems, of violence or those who suffer the terror of wars, for those who live pain closely. Grant them, my God, your blessed peace. For those who have been abandoned, rejected, for those creatures who grow up without a proper education or who wander the streets without food or a roof to find shelter. For those who “have everything”, live abandoned by their parents in front of a television or some other technological device.
Merciful God, may children regain the innocence and candor they lost having to mature radically, I ask you to give comfort to those who long for a hug, a word of encouragement or a family that was lost due to different circumstances. May none of these little ones be lost and may they find in the star of Bethlehem that guide to reach You.
Give them a heart so that they can love without limits, so that they can understand your will and the strength to tolerate disappointments. That with our help they manage to be formed as good children of yours and that they be the hope of a better tomorrow. May this Christmas be completely theirs, the children’s, my God.
This Christmas, my God, I raise my prayer for them, for the children who will come, for those who were not born and for those who are already with us, so that they may receive your blessing and your protection, so that your love, your goodness and your mercy may always be with them despite the complicated moments that life can offer.
I know that at the end of this prayer, You will grant what I ask of You, because your infinite love will envelop the hearts of these innocent creatures who only want joy. That this Christmas, they can know your reality and that you fill them with blessings, mercy and much love. Answer my humble prayer with action, in the glorious name of Jesus, Amen.
