CHRONOLOGY OF SAN FRANCISCO JAVIER

7-4-1506. Born in the Castle of Javier (Navarra, Spain).
1525. March to Paris to study at the Sorbonne.
15-8-1534. He takes the vows of Montmartre with Ignatius and five other companions.
24-6-1537. Ordained priest in Venice.
1540. Destined to the Indies.
7-4-1541. On the same day of his 35th birthday he leaves Lisbon.
6-5-1542. He arrives in Goa. From there, for about 7 years he evangelized a good part of South India, Ceylon, Malacca, etc.
15-8-1549. He arrives in Kagoshima, Japan.
1551. Returns to India and makes new projects.
3-12-1552. Death on the island of Sanchn, off the coast of China.
12-3-1622. He is canonized along with Saint Ignatius, Saint Teresa, Saint Isidro Labrador and Saint Philip Neri by Pope Gregory XV.
1904. Saint Po X names him Patron Saint of the Missions.
