.- The media reported on May 28 that the Venezuelan candy, Cocosette, added the colors of the LGBT flag to its packaging to show solidarity with this cause and generated multiple comments.
The Cocosette is a rectangle-shaped biscuit with coconut cream and is one of the Nestlé brand products.
The Venezuelan cookie published a message regarding its change: “To be happy you just have to add kisses and subtract labels,” reports the whistle.
The logo of the brand now includes the colors of the rainbow in its letters “T”. However, it can be temporary and only as a special edition for LGBT month (June).
Opinions
The Twitter account “Why is it a trend?” reported that Cocosette’s announcement was one of the most talked about topics on the bird’s social network on May 28.
Venezuelans, mostly Catholics, expressed their opinions regarding the change of the brand.
Twitter user @uzcateguione rejected the new packaging change: “Unfortunate. I hope they find the way of the Lord.”
For her part, the user @vicdollia pointed out the change of the brand as a sin: “Terrible. Nobody thinks about the children and older adults who will buy without knowing anything. The repercussions in their lives that will revolve around sin.”
Other Twitter users such as @The_ShipsCook defended the producer’s change: “If they no longer want the Cocosette they can give them all to me, I have no problem.”
Through direct observation, it was possible to show that most of the Venezuelan Twitter users made multiple jokes about Cocosette’s change of image, since for a lot in this country LGBT people are taken in a burlesque way.
