CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The Christian actor, Denzel Washington, recently issued a warning to Christians not to focus too much on themselves and become attached to material things and reflect on the coming end of days.
Washington has long expressed his faith. The 67-year-old actor, who recently appeared in the films “The Tragedy of Macbeth” and “A Diary for Jordan,” described himself as a “God-fearing man,” reports Christianity Daily.
In April, Washington warned Miami Heat players that one never sees “a U-Haul behind a hearse.” Explaining that people can’t take material things into the afterlife, he even mused, “The Egyptians tried, and everything they got was stolen.”
On another occasion, Washington talked about the ideas he had about the world people live in today and how the Bible talks about the warning signs of the last days.
He commented: “This is spiritual warfare. Therefore, I am not looking at it from an earthly perspective. If you don’t have a spiritual anchor, the wind will easily carry you away and drive you into depression.”
Over the years, Washington has become more vocal about his faith in God. He shared that he had turned his life over to God after having a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit, but admitted that it took him a few years to understand the decision to turn his life over to God.
He said he was “filled with the Holy Spirit,” which made him feel “scared.” He described the experience as “supernatural” and “once in a lifetime.”
But now that Washington has accepted himself as a “God-fearing man,” he tries not to fret, for “fear is tainted faith.” Now, he is warning others about the pitfalls of social media and how they play out in the last days.
