Divine Mercy Rosary

This chaplet is also known as the rosary beads (special) of Divine Mercy and was dictated by Jesus to Santa Faustina on September 13 and 14, 1935. In his little diarySaint Faustina transmitted this prayer to us and the graces that the Lord has promised to those who pray this chaplet, with trust and in a spirit of true charity.

“To the souls that pray this chaplet, My Mercy will envelop them in life and especially at the hour of death.” (Journal, 754)

During these difficult times that we are experiencing with the coronavirus epidemic, we can pray online to Divine Mercy every day, through this prayer community.

How to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy?

Method

This prayer is prayed with a traditional rosary.

After we have made the sign of the cross, we begin the prayer with:

Then, in each of the tens, we return to the words that Christ taught us, as follows:

  • In the large beads or pearls (with which an Our Father is prayed in the traditional rosary): “Eternal Father, I offer you the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins and those of the whole world.”

  • On each small bead or pearl (with which a Hail Mary is prayed in the traditional rosary) we say: “For your painful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

  • At the end of each mystery or decade we say: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

  • At the end of the Rosary, we end up saying three times: “Holy God, mighty God, eternal God, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

The Novena of Divine Mercy

This chaplet or special Rosary can be prayed alone, or as part of a novena, that is, a prayer that is said for nine days. The Novena of Divine Mercy begins on Good Friday and ends on the day of Feast of the Divine Mercy (the first Sunday after Easter). During each day of the novena, the rosary is prayed for groups of specific souls (priestly souls, souls that do not yet know Jesus, pious souls, souls in purgatory, etc.). In this way, at the end of the novena we will have prayed for the entire humanity.

the hour of mercy

3:00 pm, the hour of Jesus’ death on the cross, is known as the hour of mercy.

“In that hour – Jesus promised – you can get everything you ask for yourself or for others. In that hour grace was established for the whole world: mercy triumphed over justice. (Diary, 1572).

The Rosary, of course, can be recited at any time, however, the Lord is especially moved by our prayer in this holy hour. For this reason, we can direct a small prayer at that time, even if it is short.

“Jesus, I trust you!”(Saint Faustina)

The graces promised by Christ to those who pray the (special) rosary of Divine Mercy

Jesus came to save us and our Redeemer told Santa Faustina again. By praying this rosary, Jesus promises us the salvation of our soul and that of the person for whom we pray. Indeed, this is a very beautiful prayer to pray with someone who is close to death.

“I promise that the soul that venerates this image will not perish. I also promise victory over its enemies here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I myself will defend it with my own Glory.” (Diary, 811)

Although we pray this special Rosary specifically giving our soul or that of a loved one to the mercy of God, through his son Jesus Christ, it is important that we also do it as Jesus taught us, that is, without forgetting to also include in our prayer “To the whole world”: our salvation is also that of our brothers.
