Documentary will expand the case of infidelity of Carl Lentz

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Discovery + released a trailer for a docuseries about the Hillsong Pentecostal church, which narrates the passage of pastor Carl Lentz and his subsequent dismissal from the megachurch, after learning that he was unfaithful to his wife.

The series consists of three chapters and shows the process that ended Lentz’s pastoral career at Hillsong.

“Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed” focuses on Lentz’s leadership style and the celebrity fanaticism surrounding the Pentecostal church, founded in Australia by Pastor Brian Houston, who recently stepped down from his leadership position within the church. , after accusations that he concealed a case of sexual abuse in which his father was involved.

“This failure is mine, and mine alone, and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Lentz said at the time. “I am now beginning a journey of rebuilding trust with my wife, Laura, and my children and taking real time to work and heal my own life and seek the help that I need.”

The documentary will premiere on March 24 and will feature comments from Ben Kirby, known for his Instagram account “PreachersNSneakers”, and Hannah Frishberg, a reporter for the New York Post who has written a lot about Hillsong.

A promotional release from Discovery+ reads: “The series will also examine how Hillsong was able to become a global brand, while uncovering the truth behind the headlines of recent scandals and shedding light on the fine line between culture, corporation and cult.”

The release also describes the documentary: ‘Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed’ will profile numerous former members of the church who have come forward to share harrowing allegations of trauma, abuse, financial and labor exploitation that created a culture of chaos within church”.

TLC Broadcast President Howard Lee said they will “take viewers on an eye-opening journey that will provide new insights into a controversy that continues to be examined.”
