CHILE. – Bishop Eduardo Durán, was dismissed from his position as protocol representative before the Government of the evangelical churches, this occurred the same day the National Board of Deacons initiated a dismissal process against him.
The decision of the National Board of Deacons was made after Durán read a statement in which he not only ruled out his resignation, but also argued “The one who appointed me here as bishop in charge of the congregation was not men, but God Almighty.”
This, added to other antecedents, caused the deacons of the Board to meet and decide to start the process of removing the bishop. The managers took the opportunity to announce that the administration of the Evangelical Cathedral will no longer be in the hands of Durán, but will pass to those of the National Board of Deacons.
Also during this day, the Government announced that Bishop Eduardo Durán ceased to be the protocol representative of the First Pentecostal Methodist Church. An executive position that is assigned year after year and that from now on is in the hands of Pastor Jorge Méndez.
In a statement read by Deacon Pedro Chacón, The leaders of the Evangelical Church affirmed that “the actions of Pastor Eduardo Durán Castro are far from the values and principles that a pastor must have according to the sacred scriptures.”
The deacons of the directive were very direct, and affirmed that “He has incurred a lack of fear of God by using the Lord’s tithes to maintain a life of personal luxury.”
During the day, there were also small demonstrations against the Bishop outside his offices.
Celestino Huaquilén, another of the pastors part of the directive, went even further, and declared that “since last Wednesday, we stopped recognizing Eduardo Durán Castro as Bishop.”
“He is in an intransigent position,” said Luis Gonzáles, another of the deacons on the board.
For this reason, the evangelical leaders decided to hold a vote, on the result of which Durán’s continuity in office depends.
It should be remembered that Durán is being investigated for the crime of money laundering. Also, he has been questioned about his high-end lifestyle –specifically his luxury cars-, and finally he has been criticized by other bishops and parishioners for announcing his divorce and remarriage.

To my beloved brothers of the Evangelical Cathedral and its classes and premises.
I must tell you that I have not resigned, nor will I resign from my position as Governing Pastor of the Evangelical Cathedral of Chile and its circuit, nor as Presiding Bishop of the First Pentecostal Methodist Church.
Therefore, I call on all my brothers from the classes, locals and bodies to stay together and take the initiative to remove those few unruly brothers who have taken the classes causing chaos and confusion among you where the vast majority of the brothers are with me.
I ask for your support to resume all our classes and thus destroy the ambition of some Officials who want to be Pastor of the Evangelical Cathedral of Chile and place the other rebel Officials as Pastors in their classes.
Therefore, I encourage you in the Lord to unite with one voice and one thought to honor what God determined when He determined that I be the Pastor of the Evangelical Cathedral and its circuit and also when He anointed me as Bishop of the First Methodist Pentecostal Church.
This anointing and this honor was given to me by Almighty God and it will not be men who will take the place of God to take it from me.
Those who have the ambition of wanting to be the Pastor of the Evangelical Cathedral of Chile, be careful, because with what the Lord has determined about me as Governing Pastor and President Bishop, one cannot play and remember, my dear brothers and sisters, the following. “Touch not my anointed, and do not harm my prophets.”
May the Lord bless you, the Lord keep you and let us not let satan try to continue sowing chaos and confusion in our Church to destroy it.
