Environment: let us pray for our planet : communities of prayer

The 21st century has raised great challenges for humanityand we are all called to act before the environmental crisis that we are living In fact, for Christians, respect for creation It is quite a fundamental aspect. But it is not enough just to have an ecology that cares only about environmental problems And forget social, moral and ethical issues that we face daily. On the contrary, as Christians, we are invited to practice and foster a comprehensive ecology including the notion of common benefit. Precisely, the Pope Francisco in its Encyclical Laudato Si’ (2015), evokes the need to move towards environmental and social transitions to protect our common home. And this cannot happen without a conversion of hearts!

Prayer from the encyclical Laudato Si

The second papal encyclical of Pope Francis, published on May 24, 2015, seeks to make people aware of the importance of protect our common home. There the Holy Father reminds us that this commitment is a fundamental element of our Christian vocation: “Living the vocation of being protectors of the work of God is an essential part of a virtuous existence, it does not consist of something optional or a secondary aspect of the Christian experience”. -Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ encyclical letter on care for our common home.

invites you not only to discover other extracts from this encyclical, but also other meditations and prayers to respond to this current challenge.

Let’s walk towards an inner ecology

Integral ecology invites us to rethink not only our behaviors and habits, but also our way of understanding the world, of understanding people, of understanding life. It is not simply about doing this or that, but about reconsidering our attitude towards money, possessions, consumption, nature and our fellow man. Christians are called to full respect for the human person and all of God’s creation. It is not a matter of depriving oneself or limiting oneself, but on the contrary, of freeing oneself from the chains and logics of destruction that are still in force in our societies.

Prayer can help us to allow ourselves to be transformed, to live this conversion. “We need a conversation that unites us all, because the environmental challenge we are experiencing, and its human roots, interest us and impact us all”. -Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ encyclical letter on care for our common home.

Let us pray to build together, with the help of the Holy Spirit, a world that is more just, more fraternal and more respectful of God’s gifts.
