Australian Shepherd Michael Guglielmucci (pictured) announced two years ago that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Thousands of people believed him and he became a symbol of the fight against the disease. He shaved his head and regularly vomited at night to lend credence to the story. But it was all a fraud: in reality what Guglielmucci had was a severe addiction to pornography and he had “been living a double life.”

Guglielmucci, son of the pastors who founded Edge Church International in Sydney, confessed last week on the Today Tonight program that it had all been a hoax. However, he insisted that the symptoms of the disease were real, even if it was invented. The deception even included his family circle since his own wife left work to take care of him.

In his performances and preaching, he appeared with an oxygen mask and carrying the traditional serum bottle. Now, the Australian police are investigating whether the pastor committed fraud by misusing the funds raised for his fight against cancer.

Earlier this year, Guglielmucci released the single “Healer” (healer), included in the latest album by the Australian ministry Hillsong.

The song, which debuted at No. 2 on the Christian charts, had become a hymn of faith for believers, many of whom suffered from the same disease as Guglielmucci and prayed for a miracle to heal the pastor.

Hillsong has already taken action.

All CDs and DVDs of the production “This Is Our God” have begun to be released from the market from August 20 to edit the song Healer.

In addition, all videos that showed Guglielmucci openly talking about his cancer were removed from YouTube, as was the “Healer” video. The messages on Youtube indicate that Hillsong Publishing asserted its copyright to the material.
