Every year, in the month of September, the International Charismatic Mission, one of the largest churches in the world, led by pastors César and Claudia Castellanos –precursors of the G12 movement– convene thousands of young people from different parts of Colombia and from various countries of the world, to carry out its annual convention.
For this third version, more than 12,000 people gathered in the El Campín Indoor Coliseum, for several days full of music, excellent messages and, as always, valuable leadership strategies and ministerial growth.
The Third Annual Youth Convention 2007, called Revolution, A New Beginning, was inaugurated with the assistance of different media, which among other things were not duly accredited or located inside the venue, but had been invited for the official launch of the musical production of the band Generación 12, a local group that for months had been preparing to present its new musical proposal entitled Nueva Nación to the church.
It should be said that Generation 12 is a proposal for several voices, which evokes the contemporary Hillsong United style, bringing together the main talents of this church, famous at the time, for being a pioneer in contemporary sound, through ministers of the stature of Claudia Lorelle and Freddy Rodríguez, who several years ago took different ministerial paths.
The day after the impetuous staging of Generación 12, with its entire staff including Lorena Castellanos (SoulFire) and her younger sister Sara, daughters of the renowned Pastor César Castellanos, came the biggest surprise in terms of music: the presentation of Alex Campos , who had already been invited to this same event in 2005, alternating on stage with the Australian group Hillsong United.
That day, from 8 in the morning, the conventionists attended the different activities that lasted until 7 at night, at which time “El Coliseo” was filled with shouts to receive Luís Campos with his band, who took charge of for an hour to start the night in the best way and prepare the environment for what would come in the following hours.
Subsequently, César Castellanos, MCI Senior Pastor, shared with the attendees an interesting conference on the role of Christians as winners and warriors in the Kingdom of God, declaring a prophetic act of conquest and victory for Colombian youth. Immediately, there was a conference by John Bevere, author of books such as Under the Coat, Satan’s Trap and Thus Says the Lord, all of which have been widely sold in different languages.
After almost two hours of receiving God’s inspiring message, and when the clock marked 9 at night, Alex Campos came out on stage with his entire band, which gave surprises to the convention attendees, with several special guests such as Luís Campos, singing a duet with his brother, the song Tu Cielo Perdido; Jez, who made his contribution in the middle of the song Eres mi Sol.
Among the “surprises” inside the concert of the charismatic psalmist belonging to Grupo CanZion, there was also time for the family, because while the Colombian sang the song Me Dijo, he called his wife Nathalia Rodríguez, who in a few weeks will give birth to Juanita , the eldest daughter of the couple, to sing and dance this nice song together.
Finally, to end the night, the song chosen was La Fruta Prohibida, with which people shouted, sang and rejoiced when they saw the Puerto Rican Doctor P live, who to the sound of rock and reggaeton ended the second day of the convention with a bang. de oro and enjoying the recent production of the greatest exponent of Christian music in the coffee country.
The third day of the event featured a guest brought directly from Houston, Texas, Jez Babarczy, who offered for more than an hour his greatest hits Aire, En Medio del Silencio and Libertad, among others, which are part of the of his first production in Spanish titled En Medio del Silencio.
Thus ended Revolution: A New Beginning, the third installment of the Annual Youth Convention, in which not only the best of music and words were experienced, but also an extensive program of workshops and recreational activities in different parts of the El Campín Indoor Coliseum.
