Jaci Velasquez and Nic Gonzales, vocalist for the group Salvador will perform at a Christian concert along with Jon Gibson, Masada, and Theresa Griffith on July 8 in San Jose, California.
These Christian singers have come together to help those in need. They will donate a portion of the proceeds from the concert to help 12,000 orphans who have lost their homes in the United States.
During the preparations for the concert, some controversy has been brewing in relation to the recent wedding between Velasquez and Gonzales. And this is because many comment that the singer did not take long after her divorce in 2005 with her first husband, Darren Potuck of the band AutoVaughn, to marry again.
This is the second time the singer has married. In 2003, also surprisingly, she contracted her first nuptials with Darren Potuck, news that Cristianos.com gave scoop at the time of her. Between the rumors of divorce and the confirmation of it, it was learned that Jaci suffered from a disease known as bipolarity. This took her away from the stage for a while and the singer secluded herself in a farm in London. In August 2005, Jaci, through a statement through the Web, confirms the rumors about her and assures that her marriage to Darren was a resounding failure.
Of their recent marriage, Jaci and Nec declared before a Puerto Rican media outlet that “Our hearts are full and we are greatly blessed.”
The musical career of these talented singers is full of nominations and awards. Both have known how to handle the mixture of their Christian roots, the Latin tradition, and the American sound of pop music. Because of this, they were chosen by the American Bible Society as spokespersons for the “The Bible is my Guide” campaign, a campaign that seeks to reach the hearts of Latin Americans in the United States with the Word of God.
