.- The latest events related to a video of the Brazilian pastor Claudio Duarte on homosexuality have heated up social networks this week.
It all started last Sunday (30), when the presenter Rafa Kalimann, runner-up of BBB 20, and the actor Caio Castro They shared a video of the pastor, in which he claims to be against gay marriage and any type of same-sex relationship.
The pastor was labeled homophobic, as were the artists who shared the video. The presenter Patricia Abravanel was also the target of harsh criticism when she spoke out in defense of Caio Castro and Rafa Kalimann.
With all these events starting on the eve of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, the discussion about the church and its stance against homosexuality has resurfaced.
The self-styled and false Brazilian shepherdess Lanna Holderwho is a lesbian and is married to Rosania, a former Christian singer, gave an interview in which she mentioned the growth of her church called “City of Refuge” and the loss of followers of the evangelical church.
Lanna said the evangelical church needs to reform the Bible’s reading of homosexuals and the role of women or it will suffer an “exodus of believers.”
Christians who became homosexual
During the pandemic, the gay church she leads grew by 150%, from 2,000 members to 5,000. According to the religious, most of the new members are homosexuals who were Christians and left their churches because they felt rejected.
“In 2011, we opened an inclusive church in the center of Sao Paulo, called Cidade de Refúgio. Today, we have 2,000 members at our headquarters, plus nineteen other churches in Brazil and one in Portugal. In the pandemic, we created a virtual church and we grew a lot.
“Now we have 5,000 members, more than triple a year ago. The vast majority are homosexuals who were believers and had left their churches because they felt rejected. Almost no evangelical church accepts homosexuality. If the pastors do not reform to update the reading of the Bible on homosexuals and the role of women, they will suffer an exodus of believers,” he said, reported Veja Sao Paulo.
