forbidden to complain
I thought my life was not going well. I felt like something was always missing. So I talked to God.
– I complained about what went wrong at work, but I did not appreciate the hands I have to work with and the fact that I can have a job that supports my life.
– I complained about having to put up with the noise of my brothers, but I didn’t appreciate the fact that I had a family.
– I complained when I didn’t have what I liked the most to eat, but I forgot to be thankful for having something to eat.
– I complained about my salary, when millions don’t even have one for being unemployed.
– I complained because they didn’t turn off the light in my room when I left, but I didn’t think that many don’t have a home where they have a light on.
– I complained about not being able to sleep a little longer, forgetting those who would give everything to have a healthy body to be able to get up.
– I complained because my mother scolded me, when millions wish they had her alive so they could honor her and hug her.
– I complained because I didn’t have time, when they asked me to give a talk about Jesus Christ, forgetting the privilege of being able to speak to others about His infinite Love.
– I complained because my train was late. I forgot that there are millions of people who have had to leave their homes and their belongings, suffering religious persecution or fleeing war, who travel by train seeking refuge in more prosperous countries.
God enlightened me in that conversation and then I understood my selfishness and how ungrateful I have been with Him. It was then that I began to thank Him for all the things I had forgotten, and even more for those I complained so much about.
Remember this proverb: “Poor of those who, at the end of the day, do not know what to thank or Who”.
May God bless your day! And you know… don’t complain!
