CHRISTIANNOTICE.COM.- José Antônio Viana de Hollanda known as Jotta Awho resigned from Christian music and the ministry, said this Tuesday (27) in an interview he gave to the YouTube channel “Põe na Roda” that one can be evangelical and homosexual at the same time.
The artist talked about various topics, including religion, career, marijuana, and the most talked about in recent months: his homosexuality.
Jotta A started by saying that identifies as bisexualand that he realized that his sexual orientation was that when he was still in school, since the religious environment was totally “oppressive”.
The singer revealed that, in 2014, he had a conversation with his family, in which he came out as bisexual. However, his mother and his family believed that he was just a phase.
Despite this, he said that he continued to sing in evangelical churches without coming to terms with his sexuality.
When Jotta A revealed that he was retiring from Christian music and his ministry because of his homosexuality, it shocked the evangelical Christian world.
Threats of death
He says he is happy to assume his sexual identity, but has received death threats for declaring that he is bisexual. “I received a death threat from people who sent a photo with a gun and told me: look, I know you are not safe, I will find you in the street, I will kill you”, said.
When the artist was asked if it was possible to be homosexual and evangelical, he said with all conviction that, in his opinion, yes. Nevertheless, He noted that he currently does not attend any church and is not part of any religion, but his line of thought on Christianity is that Jesus accepts everyone.
Regarding marijuana, the former Christian music singer assumed that he consumes it, but not frequently, and that he makes sure to post on social networks that it is necessary to “break the pattern of prejudice.”
