USA – The occult is not only present in witchcraft rituals, according to the American Beth Eckert, who had a past marked by involvement with witchcraft. “The occult is hidden in a lot of media and movies,” Eckert recounts on her blog The Other Side of Darkness. “Some things aren’t so obvious to those who don’t have an understanding of how the occult works. That’s why it’s so tricky, because it’s hidden.”
Beth observes that the occult is dangerous because it opens doors in the human soul for the work of evil spirits. “Some believe that just doing yoga, casting a horoscope, or reading a book is not dangerous. But actually there is an implication. You stay open and allow the demons to work on you,” he says.
“Even just ‘watching’ occult content shows a form of submission and acceptance to what is happening, even if you are just watching TV or in a movie,” Beth adds.
She claims that people may be subjected to occult activities by watching their favorite movies, like Star Wars and The Matrix or series like Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones. “That’s quite a heavy statement and I know there are many who are not going to agree. I completely understand that. I have lived most of my life involved in the occult and had no idea about it. It was a secret hidden from the “uninitiated,” Beth says.
Influence
The former witch highlights that the occult is not limited only to television programs or movies, but also to commercials, music, books, among other things. In addition, she affirms that this action in the “subconscious” begins to be worked on from childhood.
“Just look at the children’s cartoons today – Gravity Falls, A LEGO Adventure, Frozen – they are all bursting with magic. Children are obsessed with Frozen and have everything with their figure: clothes, sheets, snacks, toys, toothbrushes. Frozen does a great job of making magic look like a good thing », he assesses.
Like the children, Beth says many adults came into contact with the occult without realizing it. “Things like witchcraft movies (Harry Potter etc.), crystals, numerology, reiki, meditation, therapeutic touches and much more. These are acceptable things in our society and many Christians engage in them without realizing that they are occult practices.”
Beth explains that when we open doors to the Devil, he happens to change our beliefs. “We began to move away from the biblical mindset and have a worldly mindset. And you wonder if there is really a problem with watching movies about witchcraft or if seeking a cure in a reiki session is wrong.
“You have an enemy that wants to destroy you, and you have to stop giving him power to wreak havoc in your life,” Beth warns. “God wants to help you, but you must draw near to Him. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. He loves you and wants the best for you. He knows how hard life is, but He also knows how intimacy with Jesus can bring you the greatest freedom you’ve ever experienced. There is nothing more pleasant in this world than Jesus Christ.
