CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Last Sunday, March 20, 32 Christians were killed by Islamic extremists of the Fulani ethnic group, in an attack against a city with a Christian majority in Nigeria.
According to reports, more than 100 armed radicals invaded the city of Kagoro in Kaduna state at night, setting fire to 200 houses and 32 shops, and kidnapping a woman.
“All the houses of my mother’s family were demolished and one of my cousins was burned alive in his house. We were unable to contact some of our relatives. Sir, please, this is too much for us,” said Violet Peter, a local resident.
Two soldiers died along with the 32 residents in different areas of the city. Seven other people were injured during the attack and had to receive hospital care, Morning Star News reports.
Statements by local Christians revealed the desperation of a community facing constant persecution in Kaduna state. “Is this a declared war against Christians?” Florencia Tachio asked.
Another Christian, Mercy Waziri, said: “I cry for my people! O Lord, arise and let our enemies scatter!”
“Last night’s attack in Kagoro led to the deaths of innocent men, women and children in their homes, and homes in the community were destroyed. This atrocity will never go unpunished, no matter how hard they try to change the narrative,” said Gloria Nyan.
“The citizens of Kaduna State are tired of rhetorical responses from the government without concrete action being taken to protect lives and property. So we want to hear and see the murderers and kidnappers arrested,” Baptist pastor John Joseph Hayab said in a statement.
Nigeria led the world in Christians killed for their faith last year (October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021) with 4,650, up from 3,530 the year before, according to the World Watch List 2022 Open Doors report. . ,
