.- The evangelizing organization Gideons International has distributed more than 6 million Bibles and New Testaments in Costa Rica, since the ministry entered the country in 1959 until this year.
According to the Maranata newspaper, there are 25 Gideoes groups spread throughout all the provinces of the Caribbean country.
Between April 2 and 9 alone, the ministry distributed more than 8,000 copies of the Bible in the metropolitan area and in other areas of Costa Rica.
The action was called the “International Bible Blitz”, symbolizing a “bombardment” of the Word of God, which was also carried out in different media.
Bibles were delivered to hospitals, student centers, hotels, clinics, jails and police forces, while personal evangelism was carried out.
Gideons International, changed its proposal from distributors of biblical material to soul winners. And, today, they work with a personal evangelism methodology. They distribute copies of the Bible while presenting the plan of salvation to the people.

Óscar Emilio López Jiménez, representative of the Gideons in Costa Rica, told the Maranatha newspaper that the ministry uses New Testaments in different colors and that each type has a specific purpose.
The small blue version is designed to be distributed in schools , schools and prisons. It is for the moment of personal evangelism. There is also a military camouflage printed version and it was created for law enforcement purposes.
The white New Testament is delivered to the health sector. There are also the “Great Psalms”, in a blue cover, for clinic waiting rooms and hospital bedside tables.
Founded in 1898, Gideons Internationales is a Christian association of businessmen and women, dedicated to distributing Bibles in more than 200 countries.
There are approximately 285,000 mission ministries around the world, making the organization the largest evangelistic movement on the planet, the Costa Rican newspaper Maranatha reported.
