CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The governor of Tennessee issued a proclamation this week acknowledging God’s sovereignty, seeking forgiveness for many transgressions, and inviting the citizens of the state to pray and fast for God’s guidance.
It was the third such proclamation by Governor Bill Lee, the first such event occurring two years ago. When he issued a similar “Day of Prayer, Humility and Fasting” proclamation in 2019. The same thing happened in 2020 as well, Christian Headlines reports.
This year’s day of prayer, humility and fasting took place last Monday. “I invite all Tennesseans to join Maria and me. As we pause to acknowledge our blessings, seek God’s guidance for our state,” Lee tweeted, referring to his wife.
The proclamation recognizes the sovereignty of God and the need for God’s grace in the state of Tennessee and the entire nation. Also, seek forgiveness for many transgressions and recognize that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.
“I, Bill Lee, Governor of the State of Tennessee, hereby proclaim October 11, 2021, as a voluntary day of prayer, humility, and fasting in Tennessee. And I encourage all citizens to join me in this worthy celebration,” Lee said.
Likewise, the text says that: «The Scripture tells us that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the Lord gives wisdom freely to those who ask for it».
Finally, he adds that: “Whereas the people of Tennessee recognize our rich blessings, our deep transgressions, the complex challenges that lie ahead, and the need to pause. We must humble ourselves and seek God’s guidance for the days to come”, he concludes.
