Happiness is a journey, not a destination
Once, a father from a wealthy family took his son on a country outing, with the firm intention that he would see how poor country people were, understand the value of things, and how lucky they were.
They spent a full day and night on the farm of a very humble peasant family.
At the end of the excursion and back home, the father asked his son:
– How was the trip?
– Very nice dad!
– Did you see how poor and needy people can be?
– Yeah
– And what did you learn?
That we have a dog at home, and they have four.
We have a 25-meter pool, they have an endless stream. We have imported lamps in the patio, they have thousands of stars. Our patio reaches the limit of the house, theirs has the entire horizon.
Especially dad, I saw that they have time to talk and spend time with the family.
You and Mom have to work all the time and I hardly ever see you and rarely talk to me.
At the end of the story, the father was speechless… and his son added:
Thanks dad, for showing me how rich we could be.
Remember: Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
