The winds reached 140 kilometers per hour and they detached the roofs of houses, felled trees, detached electrical cables and left some coastal areas without electricity.
Likewise, the torrential rains caused flooding in some sectors, according to information from the local press.
Before crashing ashore in Central America, Julia passed through the Colombian islands of Providencia and San Andres, just east of Nicaragua, it reported. The Washington Post.
The authorities reported that Julia did not cause major damage to the islands.
However, the residents had already been prepared by the experience of the damage left by Hurricane Iota less than a year ago.
