Illinois: Pastor’s Sister and Daughters Die in Traffic Accident

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- The sister and daughters of Pastor Scott Broghton, of the First Baptist Church in Carlyle, died in a car accident in Clinton County, Illinois.

Savanna Broughton, 17, and Brooke-Lynn Broughton, 15, died along with their aunt, Rhonda K. Evans, 43.

The girls lost their lives when the vehicle crossed the center line of the highway and collided with a semi-trailer.

Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous said the 15-year-old, who had her learner’s permit, was driving the wrecked vehicle.

Travous said it was not yet known why the Audi crossed into the westbound lane.

For his part, the driver of the semi-trailer received only minor injuries.

The funeral service for the two Broughton sisters was held Monday afternoon at First Baptist Church in Carlyle, according to The News-Democrat.

While the funeral for Evans, the sisters’ aunt, will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at the Choctaw County Community Center in Ackerman, MS.
