Interview with God
The golden dream of every journalist is to do an important interview with some famous person. It’s kind of a prized career goal for him. It is the maximum. Well, this is the imaginary story of an interview with a very important character that we would all like to be able to carry out some lucky day of our lives. And when saying “imaginary” it is important to emphasize that imagination is often truer than reality. And now let’s witness the most shocking and revealing interview that can be conceived by any human mind… An Interview with God, a subject that we all could use to analyze thoroughly.
With my brand new title of Journalist recently obtained I asked to do a great interview and my wish was granted. I was allowed a meeting with God! How I got it I can’t explain or ask me, but I think that anyone can achieve it if they just want it fervently and propose it…
– Good morning… can you?
“Come in,” God said to me in a friendly way. – It is not necessary to knock, here it is always open and I am available. Take a sit. So you want to interview me?
– Well- I replied- if you have time… God, with a tender and radiant look, smiled sweetly and told me:
-My time is called Eternity and it is enough for everything. What questions do you want to ask me? A little embarrassed I began: “Thank you very much. Well, no new or difficult questions for you, I suppose.” And I said… What surprises you most about men?
He looked me in the eyes and resolutely replied:
“Mmm… that by thinking anxiously about the future they neglect their current time, with which they don’t live in the present or the future.” And he continued:
“That they get bored of being children in a hurry to grow up, and then yearn to be children again.”
“That first they lose their health to have money and then they lose the money to get their health back.”
“Who live as if they were not going to die and die as if they had not lived.”
After a while I said, “May I ask you another question?”
He didn’t answer me with words, he just nodded with a smile and his tender look. And so I told him…
As a good father, what would you ask of your children?
My interlocutor heaved a deep sigh and slowly answered:
“Let them learn that they cannot make someone love them; what they can do is love and be loved.”
“Let them know that they must control their attitudes…or their attitudes will control them.”
“Let them realize that it takes years to build trust and only seconds to destroy it.”
“That the most valuable thing is not what they have in their life, but who they have in their life. And above all… that they have life”
“That they accept that it is not good to compare themselves with others, because there will always be someone better or worse than them.”
“That rich is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.”
“Let them realize that forgiveness is learned by practicing.”
“That a few seconds are enough to inflict deep wounds on the people we love, but that can take many years to be healed.”
“That true wisdom consists in always thinking of others before ourselves”
“That sometimes when they’re upset they have a right to be, but that doesn’t give them the right to upset those around them.”
“Let them be convinced that they are masters of what they keep silent and slaves of what they say.”
“Let them learn that true happiness is not achieving their goals, but learning to be happy with what they have.”
“That two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.”
“That regardless of the consequences, those who are honest with themselves and with others, always go far in life and achieve a
satisfying and lasting personal well-being.” “You must not forget it!”
“That even though the word LOVE has many different meanings, it loses its value when used excessively.”
“That they recognize that loving and wanting are not synonyms, but antonyms. Wanting demands everything, loving gives everything.”
There was a short silence, and then he added:
“And to think that my wishes were not those…”
His eyes were wet and his voice cracked. She stopped talking. Her hands took mine and we continued like that in silence. I felt deeply moved and lowered my head.
Then he sighed deeply and continued:
“Let them learn that the furthest distance they can be from Me is the distance of a simple prayer.” “I will always be there to listen to them.” “And that to pray it is not necessary to speak, it is enough to raise your eyes with devotion to heaven, smile… and think of me.”
– Well, do you have anything else to ask me? – God asked me.
– Lord: before Your infinite wisdom I have no choice but to remain silent and meditate on Your answers- I replied.
Then, in a short hand-over-hand spiritual encounter, we continue to sit in silence. I thanked the good Lord and got up.
“My son, go and spread this message and make these truths known to your readers.” I started to walk towards the door, but at that moment he stopped me.
“I promise you Lord, I will do it” I responded excitedly and with a broken voice. And you see, I keep my promise. You have already read what He wants. Now try to fulfill yourselves.
I continued walking slowly in the middle of a sea of reflections. What a great guy God is! – I told myself- All goodness, sweetness, understanding, love, like a good father and shepherd. Or as my grandchildren say: “How cool”
We finally said goodbye with a hug and he gave me one last goodbye and his blessing from the big gate. It was at that moment when suddenly, on a spontaneous impulse, I asked him:
– Lord, could you also bless all the people who are in their homes reading this interview at this time?
At my request the Lord smiled sweetly, raised his hand and said:
So be it
And so the interview ended.
Meditating on this meeting now I ask myself: How is it possible that there are still people who do not realize His presence?
The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon. A fresh breeze was blowing from the sea that filled my lungs with oxygen and filled my chest with emotion. My mind continued to wander like this for a long time in the void, and I couldn’t help but ask myself this last question: Will there ever come a day when we listen to him, understand his words and learn from him? Let each one reflect and meditate on his response.
