Jesus on the cross

Jesus on the cross and his resurrection are the center of the Christian faith. The Bible says that after teaching and caring for his disciples for three and a half years, “Jesus began to announce to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer much from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes; that he should be put to death and rise on the third day” (Matthew 16:21).

The passion of Christ gave him the strength to accept carrying the Cross and die for us so that we can rise together with Him. We invite you to present yourself before the crosslisten to the testimony of Juan and let yourself be touched by the courage and love of Savior of the world.

Crucifixion of Jesus (John 19:16-30)

“16 Then Pilate handed him over to be crucified, and they took him away.
17 Jesus, carrying the cross on himself, left the city to go to the place called “the Skull”, in Hebrew “Golgotha”.
18 There they crucified him; and with him two others, one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19 Pilate wrote an inscription that read: “Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews,” and had it placed on the cross.
20 Many Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city and the inscription was in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
21 The chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write: ‘The king of the Jews.’ but: “This man said: I am the king of the Jews.”
22 Pilate replied, “What is written is written.”
23 After the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each. They also took the tunic, and since it had no seam, because it was made in one piece from top to bottom,
24 said to each other: «Let’s not break it. We are going to draw it, to see who gets it.” This is how the Scripture was fulfilled that says: My garments were distributed and my tunic was raffled. This was what the soldiers did.
25 By the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary Cleopas’s wife, and Mary Magdalene.
26 Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to her, “Woman, here is your son.”
27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that moment, the disciple received her in her house.
28 Later, knowing that everything was already fulfilled, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled to the end, Jesus said: I am thirsty.
29 There was a container full of vinegar; they soaked a sponge in it, tied it to a sprig of hyssop, and held it to his mouth.
30 After drinking the vinegar, Jesus said: “Everything is finished.” And bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.”

“It is finished”

The Gospel of John in chapter 14 tells us that to love God is to keep his commandments, and this is precisely what Jesus did until his last breath. In fact, Jesus’ love for humanity led him to accept the suffering of the cross “until the end”. In this regard, the apostle Paul referred in the epistle to the Philippians saying that Jesus “He humbled himself to the point of accepting death and death on the cross out of obedience.” For this reason, Jesus Christ is the model of the perfect Son that we must follow. Let us keep in mind that, just as Jesus after the crucifixion obtained the resurrection and glory, we, after the sufferings for Christ, will receive the heavenly rewards. May the Holy Spirit allow us to love the Father by giving ourselves in sacrifice for his glory!

The precious blood of Jesus

When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he exclaimed: “This is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). The Bible says in the Old Testament that the Levitical offerings only covered the sins of men, since “It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to remove sins” (Hebrews 10:4). Therefore, it was necessary that the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, be shed for our sins to be forgiven. In this regard, the book of Revelation says: “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the book and to break the seals, because you have been immolated, and through your Blood, you have redeemed for God men of all families, tongues, peoples and nations” (Revelation 5:9). The Bible also reveals that the blood of Jesus is more valuable than gold and silver (1 Peter 1:19), gives healing and protection (2 Peter 2:24-25), and cleanses our conscience from dead works (Hebrews 9 :14)… May the Holy Spirit enlighten us and make us understand the benefits of the precious Blood of Jesus!
