DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. – Very few Christian singers have spoken out on abortion and gay marriage, and it may be to avoid being branded as homophobic, to promote hate speech against homosexuals or simply to prevent them from being attacked by LGBT organizations.
In the case of Lilly Goodman, she never wanted to express herself on the subject, but given the context of a law that was being debated at the time and after visiting the country in August 2016 to participate in the Amaury Sánchez event called Sinfonía Para El Cielo, the presenter from LuminariasTV, among other things, asked him about two very controversial issues: gay marriage and abortion.
Regarding the approval of the therapeutic abortion law, he expressed disagreement with this, as did many. “Of course not, I mean, I have a four and a half year old son and I have one here on the way, would I be capable of taking his life? my four-year-old son, after I already see him? Probably not, but sometimes people find it so easy to take the life of something they can’t see,” Goodman said.
Regarding gay marriage, Lilly also said she did not agree, although she assures that she has never rejected anyone who thinks differently from her. “I know homosexual people who are some of the kindest, most helpful people, good people and everything. But, I obviously don’t agree with the way a lot of them thinkLilly expressed.
“I was raised, nor my biblical principles do not teach me that this is something correct and for me the marriage between a woman and a man is so beautiful, but obviously I have never rejected anyone who thinks differently from me, I have never walked away from someone who thinks differently from meOn the contrary, I try to be light in his life, I try to be kind, I try to be helpful, pray for them and who knows, maybe they will change their minds, but personally I do not agree”.
Although the video is from August 2016, visits have increased more and more in almost 9 months and it has almost reached 200,000 views, but it is creating heated debates and questions towards the singer because she opines against gay marriage and abortion.
“Very good response from a Christian, we must love and respect them as lost souls who walk in darkness, but also be light for them, God’s purpose is not that, that’s why the Bible says; “male and female he created them” that is God’s purpose but Satan wants to destroy the family”, Juana Catalina Ramirez.
“First of all, what does he seriously get out of a comment, bone, I don’t discriminate, but gays don’t exist because I don’t like them. Really?! The arguments of Christians against the subject always kill me with laughter”, Juana Catalina Ramírez Suarez.
“I believe that you only have to quote the Bible and not seek its opinion because the artists did not make the rules but God. What matters what Lili thinks, she is a normal person”, Gissellys Pérez Reyes.
“Iron Arm what you think or stop thinking is worth a damn to me, at the end of it all, you will surely go to hell like most for being a liar, for a thief or for whatever in the end everything is a sin. Good luck on your way”, Uriel Jhacöme.
