Liturgical prayers are prayers recited by the celebrant during mass. They are also called presidential prayers. They correspond to moments of recollection of the assembly and, therefore, are different from meditative prayer. In the Roman rite, they correspond to three different moments of the celebration: the reception, the offertory and after communion. There are prayers for liturgical seasons and for ordinary Sundays.

This prayer is also called a collect (prayer of supplication) because its purpose is to gather the faithful at the beginning of the celebration.
Palm Sunday Collection
“Eternal and almighty God, who to show humanity what humiliation it must imitate, you wanted our Savior, in a body similar to ours, to suffer death on the cross: grant us this grace to retain the teachings of his Passion and to be able to share his Resurrection.”
Christmas Mass Collection
“Father, you who wonderfully created man and even more wonderfully restored his dignity, make us share in the divinity of your Son, since He wanted to take on our humanity.”
Sample prayer about offerings
“This, Lord, is the offering of this day that we, your servants, present to you and to our entire family. Accept them kindly. Order in your peace the days of our lives. Deign to preserve us from sin and count us among your chosen ones, for ever and ever. Amen.”
Sample prayer after communion
“God our Father, our hearts rejoice because once again you have declared your love for us and have shared the bread of life. It is the same sap that nourishes us, making us one body. Teach us to truly be your disciples and to bear fruit for your glory, which is nothing other than the happiness of men.”
