CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Mike Evans, who led the efforts of the Facebook page “Jerusalem Prayer Team”, assured that if Netanyahu’s government ends, Israel would lose evangelical support, reports jewish link.
Evans is an American Christian leader who was involved in creating billboards that were in Jerusalem calling on Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The parliamentarians, Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett, have come together to create a government with a majority in Parliament and thus end the administration of Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, Mike Evans assures that this decision would end evangelical support for the new government of Israel.
“If Bibi Netanyahu goes into opposition, the evangelicals, my 77 million people, will join the opposition with him.”
For Evans, Netanyahu has been key in supporting Americans for Israel.
Evans recalled the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and said that this happened thanks to evangelical support.
Reporters asked Evans if he would continue to support Israel after a change in government and he said yes: “But we won’t have the same position we had before, because we won’t have trust and trust is everything.”
Former Israeli ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer said people should consider American evangelical support for Israel.
“People need to understand that the backbone of Israel’s support in the US is evangelical Christians. It is true by the numbers and also by his passionate and unequivocal support for Israel,” Dermer said.
