Ministry organizes ‘day of prayer and fasting’ for missionaries kidnapped in Haiti

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- Last Thursday, more than a month after a local gang kidnapped 17 missionaries in Haiti, Christian Aid Ministries celebrated a “special day of prayer and fasting” for them.

The missionaries, sent to Haiti through Christian Aid Ministries, were kidnapped on October 16 by the 400 Mawozo gang. After visiting an orphanage. Sixteen of the missionaries are American and one is Canadian, the Christian Post reports.

“This is the 33rd day since our workers were kidnapped in Haiti. Tomorrow (November 18), we plan to have another special day of prayer and fasting,” the international ministry shared in an update on Wednesday afternoon.

“We invite believers from around the world to join us in seeking God for his mighty hand to work. We request continued prayer for the detainees, the families of the hostages, the government officials helping, and the kidnappers themselves,” the statement concluded.

The prayer request comes a week after an unnamed Biden administration official confirmed that at least some of the kidnapped missionaries are alive.

In a video circulating on social media, the gang’s leader, Wilson Joseph, threatened to kill the missionaries if his $17 million ransom request was not met.

“I swear on thunder if I don’t get what I’m asking for I’m going to put a bullet in the head of these Americans,” he said in the video.
