The birth of Saint Rita

Miracles after the death of Santa Rita

  • That same year, a woman named Lucia, who was blind in one eye and could not see well in the other, went to pray at the tomb of Casia. After fifteen days of prayer, she was completely cured and she regained her sight in both eyes.
  • One of the miracles that led to the canonization of Saint Rita it was that of Isabel Bergamini. This woman had smallpox and she was going blind. Her parents took her to Casia to pray to Santa Rita, and four months later, the girl recovered her sight.
  • The other miracle presented for the cause of canonization it was that of Cosma Pellegrini, a woman who suffered from an incurable disease and was about to die. The miracle happened when she had a vision in which she saw Santa Rita greeting her: she immediately recovered all her strength and contrary to her predictions, she continued to live another few years.
