– Nicaraguan police prevented evangelical pastors from carrying out a act, in commemoration of Bible Daywhich is celebrated on the last Sunday of September, in Nicaragua.
The news, which was made by the local press of that Central American country, reported that the police, prohibited the celebration of the 453 years, of the translation of the Bibleon the streets of the country, “for security reasons.”
The National Council of Evangelical Pastors of Nicaragua sent a letter to Christian leaders this Monday (19), advising that the festivities, are celebrated inside the temples, due to the prohibitionreports Guiame.com.
“By means of the present, we inform you that, by indications of the civil authorities, the 453rd anniversary of the translation of the Bible will not be celebrated to Spanish. They express that the reason is the safety of the participants”.
Request denied
In an interview with the Nicaraguan website 100% Noticias, some pastors said they had requested authorizationto the National Police, for a public act on Bible Day, but they had been denied.
“If there is an orientation at the national level, that we are not authorized to hold a march, or any rally in commemoration of the day of the Bible, to the same thing they are doing with the Catholic Church (They are doing it with the evangelicals), because they are prohibiting all public activity,” said a pastor, who did not want to give his name.
The National Police has also prevented the celebration of Catholic festivities in the streets of Masaya this Tuesday (20), which are the festivities of San Jerónimo, which usually take place from September to November, considered the longest festivities in the country.
