“Nothing will stop me from preaching,” says man beaten for evangelizing on the streets

CHRISTIANNEWS.COM.- For more than 7 years, Emmanuel Kasiko has been proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the streets of Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

For Kasiko, preaching the Gospel on the streets is a lifelong task. That task, he says, was confirmed by a vision from God and kept him going even in the most difficult moments of his life.

In a recent interview, Kasiko recalled an incident that nearly took her life, UG Christian News reports.

“On December 28, 2021, during one night, the driver of a Toyota Mark X car was stopped at a traffic light. All the occupants smoked marijuana. When I saw them, I told them through the car window that God could heal them, ”he recalled.

Those words that earned him a beating together with his colleague, with whom he proclaimed the Word of God along the way.

“The guys started beating me, my colleague who was also nearby came to help. But they beat both of us in broad daylight,” he revealed.

Kasiko, now recovered from the attack, said he chose to forgive his tormentors because nothing would stop him from preaching the Gospel. He explained that his calling is not to please men, to win their applause or to please their ears, but to save perishing souls by introducing them to the Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Even if we are persecuted, we will not fear any evil,” he said.

blessed lives

The 29-year-old began preaching the gospel as a student at Kyambogo College. He later took inspiration from another street preacher identified as Patrick Katende.

Although most of the hundreds of people passing by in their cars, taxis, or boda bodas (a very popular bicycle taxi in Africa) refuse to listen to the message, Kasiko and other preachers are not intimidated.

“Even if you preach and it seems like they’re not listening as they walk by, a few days later you see someone come back saying ‘oh pastor, what you preached to me last time blessed me,’” Kasiko said.
