Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Day 1: Divine Heart of Jesus
“Here is the Heart that has loved men so much”. Jesus himself gives us his Heart. He has given us everything. But I remain insensitive to his gifts. I forget his love and look for what deep down doesn’t fill me.
Day 2: God loves me
Jesus Christ shows us the Father so that we can know him and know that he is all love. Our God is Merciful. How do I reciprocate so much love? Do I love God with all my heart, with all my being and understanding?
Even if I forget God, He will never forget me.
Day 3: Trust in the Heart of Christ.
Faith is the help of our life. As necessary as air and food. Sometimes we don’t express it, we are ashamed to be believers, we separate it from our lives and it weakens. Christ risked everything for us. And what am I willing to offer? Jesus asks for your faith to work in you.
Day 4: Prayer.
The apostles asked the Lord to teach them to pray. Praying is keeping your relationship with God fresh. When do I pray? How is my communication with Him? To turn away from prayer is to turn away from God and listen to other voices. Only God speaks from the heart to the heart, that is where he makes himself understood and drives us to act from him.
Day 5: Life, a gift to love.
The Heart of Jesus speaks to us of love for God and for our brothers. It is not enough not to hate, not to do evil, not to be selfish. Christ asks us to do good, serve, love, build. Is my life content with not doing evil or does it seek to do good?

Day 6: Humble and simple at heart.
Jesus valued humility and simplicity. Being and living from humility is the foundation of all virtues. We have the example in the Virgin Mary, God noticed the humility of her servant and she let him act. It is then that God does great works through us.
Day 7: The heart of Jesus in your heart.
God penetrates the depths of our being and knows us better than ourselves. Before Him there is no room for lies or deception. Living from the truth spreads and creates friendship, trust, security. Living life authentically builds the Kingdom of the Heart of Christ and makes us bearers of his light and truth.
Day 8: Through Mary to the heart of Jesus.
Jesus gives us his Mother. By her will, Mary becomes the mother of all. Her Graces come to us through her. How do I love the Mother of Jesus? Do I turn to her and pray to her?
She is an example of following the Heart of Jesus, an example of a faithful disciple until the end. He fills her with Grace to flood us with the Graces of her Son.
Day 9: The Blessed Sacrament.
A sweet word comes from the tabernacle: “Come to me, all of you who are tired and burdened, and I will relieve you.” Thus speaks the Heart of God. He wants to be your strength, your consolation, your meaning. We need to feed on Him and drink from the fountain that flows from His Heart. He wants us to live each day in the Heart of Jesus. Wait for your reply.
